Disclaimer:
Funds raised at this stage will be held for the Basil Bodle Playground Project. As we are currently in the planning and consultation phase, the final design and total cost are yet to be confirmed. If the full playground redevelopment cannot proceed by 2027, any funds raised will be used to upgrade or replace the existing equipment that is nearing the end of its life.

Your support will directly contribute to improving the play area for our community — whether through a full new playground or essential upgrades to what we already have.

A New Chapter for Our Playground.

The Basil Bodle Playground has given us years of fun, but it’s time for a refresh! The RBCA is on a mission to create an even better space for everyone to play, laugh, and enjoy.

From Labour Weekend in October 2025, we’ll be gathering feedback from the community through a quick survey to help guide our playground choices. We’ll also begin fundraising alongside the survey to build momentum for the project and get an early sense of what we can achieve. Donations can start now — every contribution brings us closer to a playground everyone can enjoy.

The survey will run through to Wellington Anniversary Weekend 2026, after which we’ll continue fundraising to help bring the community’s feedback to life. Once the survey results are in, we’ll have a clearer picture of what the community wants and how much additional fundraising will be needed. From there, we’ll develop playground options and come back to the community with plans to review and vote on.

Our goal is to have a plan ready by early 2027, with installation of the new playground to follow.

What we can build — and when — will depend on both community feedback and the funds we’re able to raise. While the project is still in its early stages, our timelines give us a clear and achievable goal to work toward. These may need to shift as we progress, but with strong community support and successful fundraising, we can make this project a reality together.

  • Every dollar donated will go directly toward upgrading Basil Bodle Playground. The type and amount of equipment we can include will depend on how much we raise, but every contribution helps make the space safer, more fun, and more welcoming for everyone. If we’re unable to secure enough funding for a complete revamp, all money raised will go toward updating and improving the existing equipment to make the playground the best it can be within our budget.

  • We are a registered charitable trust, so your donation is eligible for a tax credit. If you’re a business, your donation may be tax deductible.

  • Absolutely! You can donate any amount that works for you, or even offer materials, tools, or volunteer time—every bit helps bring the playground to life.
    In the coming weeks, we’ll be offering sponsorship opportunities for businesses and families who’d like to contribute. Sponsors can choose to make a general donation toward the playground or fund a specific piece of equipment.   • We’ll keep our donors updated with photos, progress reports, and stories so you can see exactly how your support is helping the community.We’ve also sent out a community survey to gather ideas on what people would love to see in the new playground. From this feedback, we’ll collaborate to identify the most requested items and equipment.
    If funding allows, we’ll then share a few design options with the community to help decide on the final playground features.

  • A passionate group of local volunteers from the Riversdale Beach Community Association is leading this project from start to finish, working together to create a space everyone can enjoy. The team is applying for funding grants, organising fundraising opportunities, and rallying the community and local businesses to help make this playground amazing and ensure it becomes a place for everyone to come together and enjoy.
